i had a really bad time with this book

This book had SO MANY MISTAKES. I would be stuck in a problem for hours because i had no idea how they got the answer, turns out the answer in the back WAS WRONG!. This didnt happen to me just once, it happened to me multiple times, not only were the answers wrong in the back of the book, but the examples they showed you had glitches too. Instead of showing you how to do the problem with actual calculations, they wanted you to you EXCEL!!! i had a really bad time with this book. I do not recommend.

The book is in slightly worse shape then I'd like. One page is almost completely ripped out of the book. There might be more but I haven't made it that far in the book yet.

Amazing!! Life Changing Book FOR ME!

I read this book maybe 10 yrs ago in Spanish---and even though I was a Christian, it made even more of a reality the futility of life and the importance of seeking and fearing/respecting God as "there's nothing new under the sun". This book dissected the book of Eclesiastes
written by King Solomon--by the way...Per the Bible He had a GIFT of wisdom and like not one else. I plan to get 3 copies of this book for my children who are still 6-10 as I
believe they need to understand clearly about the respect/fear of God, working hard and sharing life and substance with those they love. Good non-threatening way to introduce the "facts of life" and the truth of God's reality to intellectual people as they will not be able to "rationalize" without being dishonest or "spin" the "vanity of life" and truth of the Word of God. I give this book a perfect 10!

Good Story for 7+

I just got a tablet with kindle so I have been downloading free books like a mad woman. I am the mom of a 5 year old boy and read to him every night. The title of this book caught my attention as I have a "smart boy". I was enjoying reading it but it seemed to bore my son. I think he is just too young and impatient. That is why my title says 7+.

I thought this was pretty good. Monkey (Johnny Lovebird) overhears talk at his school that Santa won't be coming to the school that year and he plans a way to make it happen. What he wants most is a daschund but his mom is adamantly against it.

A good message for Christmas

The protagonist has a long list of things he wants for Christmas, but he becomes more concerned about the well-being of others as the plot thickens. This book defends the existence of Santa Claus (see pages 15-16) and also includes information on holidays from other cultures (Kwanzaa, Chuseok, Chanukkah, and Navidad). Candles are a symbol common to all the celebrations and come in very handy at the end of the story. (I can't tell you why, it would be a spoiler!) Not a bad choice for a holiday read aloud.

History of US Light Tanks

This In Action series books gives you a little of the history of US light tanks prior to WW2. The M-2, M-3, M-5 and even the M-24 are shown in this 48 page book. There are also 2 pages of color plates to show the camoflage schemes used.

The b&w photos show the tanks in all sorts of weather & terrain. These light tanks were out gunned and out armored in Europe, but good in the Pacific. Each tank got a little better than the previous one, culminating in the M-24 Chaffee light tank, which was a whole new design. Nice bonus to have it added here. There are also data charts to show the penetration power of the 37mm gun and statistics on each tank's height, weight, armor.

I would not pay the $42.00 asking price for a new book (as of this writing), but picking it up used as I did, or waiting for it to be re-published are options. Great for modelers or those starting out with an interest in armored warfare. These light tanks were good for scouting or secondary theaters, this book shows that very well.

He is the author of twelve books on religion and spirituality.

Great but uncritical

Very well written and useful for understanding Muhammad and the Koran. But be aware that Lings was an enthusiastic convert to Islam and accepted the orthodox islamic views on the prophet and the book. No critical questions, but deep knowledge of Arabic and islamic traditions.

Originally, I checked this book out from a community college I was attending at the time. It is a great book and very enlightening on the life of Muhammad. I repurchased this same book from Amazon because I loved/love it so much. This book is a great addition to any believer whether he/she be Hindu, Christian, Jew, and anyone who believes in the one God.
