Ted Bigelow has served in pastoral ministry since the early 1990s in California, Maryland and Connecticut. He has served in various capacities in megachurches, and has helped plant 3 churches.
He presently helps shepherd the flock at Grace Church in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, a medium-size New England church plant. He serves among a team of elders, where he handles most of the preaching and leadership development.
Ted is married and has been blessed with four children. He holds the following degrees:

Church Leadership Must Read!

I have been attending church all my life, have attended Bible College and throughout all this time, have learned a far amount about Church Leadership. I know what an effective, well-run church should and should not be, and have had both good and bad experiences in the various churches I have attended. That said, The Titus Mandate is a must read for all church attenders, and specifically for Church leadership. If you are attending a church that has a group of elders, it is safe to say you are attending a Biblically sound church, at least according to Bigelow.
The Titus Mandate is very well organized into four distinct sections and will guide the reader into understanding what a true "Eldership Church" should and should not be. If you are looking for a book to guide you as you strive to better understand the Biblical basis for the local church, how to do church in complete unity and recognize false teachings (which seem to be abounding in today's churches) I highly recommend The Titus Mandate from Ted Bigelow. You will not be disappointed. I know I wasn't

Finally! An Intellectual Bible Scholar Writes a Book That Layman Can Easily Understand

I remember being cast in a play during high school and one of two lines I had was yelling, "Well, it's about time!" I can legitimately revive this emphatic statement here--it is truly about time! A true, intellectual scholar and student of Scripture, Ted takes his vast knowledge and applies it to an easily understandable format without "dumbing it down." He transports us from biblical history to future how-to's with one giant sweeping authorial arm without losing any of the details for those who desire to do church God's way.
This book is for anyone who wants to know about how church is built from the ground--up and led from the top--down, the correct, biblical way. This is not just your typical how-to book, but a series of chapters that leaves the genuine Christian with an urgency to follow the full counsel of God.
Who should buy this? Those who are in elder-led churches. It'll give you some encouragement and great testimonials from likeminded believers. Those who are in churches who are looking to follow biblical council on what church leadership looks like. Polity-leaders in churches who desire to learn the truth about what the bible truly says regarding biblical leadership--and Scripture has a lot to say on the matter. Those who are in churches where leaders are denying that eldership is biblical or are not conforming to Scripture. Those who are interested in church planting.
Buy this if you're a Christian, buy this for Christians you know. It is a great reference guide, as well.

Important Book on Godly Church Governance

The Titus Mandate is the answer. The question for me is: What does a Godly Eldership look like? In writing this important book, Ted Bigelow has compiled a comprehensive resource for every church in today's world, that serious Christians need to recognize, and follow. For the past two years, I have been researching the office of eldership, to determine what fueled a firestorm of conflict within my church, and to become more knowledgeable about what Scripture has to say about church polity [governance]. Until reading this book, I had come up with disappointing results, and many conflicting opinions. Church governance, I have since learned, is one of the most confusing and highly disputed topics of church debate. So many denominations have instituted their own form of non-Biblical governance, and are now finding themselves embroiled in schisms, and asking themselves, "Why?" They do not even realize that they have failed to apply the scriptural principles that God set out in His Word, and that the Apostle Paul helped to institute, and addressed specifically in the books of Acts, Titus, and Timothy. The modern churches of today have fallen so far from the God-ordained mandate outlined in the New Testament Church.
Ted Bigelow has thoroughly researched scripture, to explain how the mandate given by Paul to Titus, was the example for all churches to follow. The churches on the island of Crete, in the first century, were in desperate need of reform, because of false teachers that had taken over leadership. The sheep were not safe, and Godly authority needed to be restored as soon as possible. Dangerous precedents were being set in the Church, and Paul could not stand idly by. Paul sent Titus as his authority, to appoint Godly elders in all the churches, and remove the sinful leaders before any more harm could be done.
This author has taken the reader through this process, outlined in Scripture, and explains exactly what qualifications Paul said are necessary for elder positions, and how this model still applies today. He goes on to describes how to implement the Titus Mandate, and reap the benefits of such a system led by Godly leaders, and how to avoid the pitfalls that are inherent in the counterfeit governance systems that have divided so many denominations in the modern world.
Mr. Bigelow has covered most forms of church polity, discussing how their rationale has been a result of misinterpretation of various passages in Scripture. The author has done due diligence in studying the original text, and how the correct interpretation of the office of eldership can be nothing less than the polity of a plurality of Godly eldership. It originated with the Apostle Paul, who was given this divinely inspired set of principles to follow by Christ, the Head of the Church, Himself.
Thank you, Mr. Bigelow, for your excellent treatment of this highly important topic, and the amazing work you have done. This is a resource that should be made available to every member of every church, upon confession of faith, in order to help each person understand his or her function in the church, and how to come together, to raise up Godly and sincere men of scriptural integrity and compassion who will then govern and care for Christ's sheep, as He intended.
